To give you an idea of the abilities of the new iPhone 4S camera, I have some comparisons taken from the same spot over the years using an Olympus SP 565 UZ , which has a 10 megapixel resolution and a 20x optical zoom lens, an iPhone 3GS (3MP),... Finally, the last pictures will be a comparison between the panoramic abilities of the iPhone 4S and the Olympus SP-565 (I don’t think I had the Pano App at the time I used the 3GS at Mt. Echo). This no substitute for optical zoom, but at least, the digital zoom on the 4S is somewhat useful when compared to the camera of the 3GS. The pictures were all taken from Mt. I do recommend using light filters, but I definitely give this feature 5 stars Physical features: As a previous reviewer noted, right out of the box this camera feels pretty cheap due to its larger size and remarkably light weight. Zoom: I think most people who are looking at this camera are doing so because of the 26x zoom feature, so I will remark on this first. In my armature opinion the zoom on this camera is awesome. Obviously when you are stretching out to the full length of the zoom you are going to want some kind of support (such as a gorilla pod if you're a backpacker like me) because dual image stabilization can only do so much for you to prevent blurry... After handling it for a while I defiantly think it is more durable than the 565 was though....

When the Lumix GF1 has a single prime lens attached to it it is very small and I usually carry in a small bag with a spare battery and spare memory card. As well as the lenses I always a carry a polarising filter, a couple of lens adapter rings, a spare camera battery and memory card. I needed a bag or case that would take most of the gear I need on a hike or scramble that I want to keep handy and not in my rucksack. I often take with me two prime lenses, and a zoom or a macro lens. I use the camera with the Electronic Viewfinder and a small tripod plate permanently attached. With the zoom attached to the camera is quite a bit bigger. However, the GF1 system is very versatile and a major benefit is that it has interchangeable lenses. I now do a great deal of my landscape photography with the system and use several lenses....
